SYLACAUGA — Both the Leeds girls and boys tennis teams won the 4A/5A Section 5 tournaments this week at the Memorial Tennis Center here. That means the Green Wave will compete Monday, April 18, at the AHSAA state tennis tournament at the Mobile Tennis Center.

The boys won their tournament Tuesday in tense action that came down to the final points of the final match. The 1 doubles team of senior twins Jacob and Joseph Hume emerged victorious 6-3, 5-7, (11-9) in the night’s final, winner-take-all-match.

3- Luke Weems
4 – Jacob Hume
5 – Chris Byrd
6 – Noah Bishop
1 doubles – Jacob and Joseph Hume
2 doubles – Luke Weems and Jonny Hume
3 doubles – Brayden Williams and Wilson Beasley
All the above won matches to contribute to the sectional championship.
The girls won their tournament Wednesday by winning all 9 brackets through incredibly close matches.
