Bloomin Blinds is a family oriented company at its core, providing affordable custom window treatments and repairs throughout the country since 2001.
Mark Tant, owner of Bloomin Blinds in Birmingham, purchased the franchise here in Birmingham after hearing the remarkable story of how Bloomin Blinds started.
“It feels like we work for HGTV, making homes beautiful every day! The single mom, who started the company, would pick up broken blinds that were put out for the trash and taught herself how to repair them. She did this to care for her three boys. When they got old enough to work for her, they grew it to a 2.5 million dollar company on their mother’s kitchen counter just by loving and serving customers. It’s an old school way of doing business – where you fall in love with every customer, their project and being able to sell great products at honest prices and stand behind everything with integrity” Tant said.
After researching 100 different franchises, Bloomin Blinds was the greatest choice we could have made in business ownership. We have so many wonderful customers, we have become one of the top selling locations in the country and have set a record of five star reviews on Google for window treatment companies in all of Alabama!
Tant has one reason to continue this single mom’s legacy, and that is to love and serve each and every customer like they’re family. Bloomin Blinds repairs and sells plantation shutters, shades, motorization, outdoor roller shades, drapery and so much more.
Bloomin’ Blinds may have been started by a single mom, but is now owned by families like the Tants right here in Birmingham. Bloomin Blinds offers the best for its customers, knowing the best brands that will meet your individual needs.
“We’re a repair company at heart and that expertise aids in our knowledge regarding some of the best brands for customers. Since we’re able to take them apart and put them all back together we can save customers money either way, whether that’s selling them something new or simply repairing what they already have,” Tant said. “We’re not here to just sell or repair blinds, we’re here to give each customer the best experience possible.”
“When it comes to plantation shutter repairs, whether it’s a loose staple or a louver that was eaten by your dog, which happens more than people imagine, we can take care of you. We can actually come in to color match for ordering new louvers, new tilt rods, and then repair the shutter for them on site once the new parts have come in,” Tant said. “So it actually helps the customer tremendously as it is cheaper to repair than replace in most shutter repairs. When it comes to shades or blinds, we can change tilters, cords and so much more as we carry repair parts on our van.”
If a customer needs a tilter, which opens and closes the slats, Bloomin Blinds does everything on site. They have barrels that the threads wrap around in the top headrail, they have cradles, they have cords on the van as well in different colors.
“So we can actually change the lift cords, the ladders that the slats sit in, we can change those as well,” Tant said. “We also have cord locks, if customers still have the corded blinds versus the cordless, we carry clutches and chains for roller shades, and for blinds we also carry the valance clips, so we can actually put your valances back up for you.”
If a customer has lost, misplaced, or broken their valances Bloomin Blinds can order that as well. If a customer has broken slats in their blind they can order new slats, and Bloomin Blinds can rebuild almost anything back to it’s working order.
Beyond repairs, they actually bring the showroom to you, allowing you to see and experience colors and fabrics right in your own home. You know what it will look like with your furniture, paint color and style. A very popular product is their high density composite shutters.
Tant said one of his favorite experiences is when a customer told him that Bloomin Blinds made his wife late to work.
“He said with these shutters that they put on the front of their house, since they close a lot tighter than the blinds do, and because they’re made of heavy dense material that adds insulation to your windows, saving you up to $500 a year in energy costs, the customer couldn’t hear the morning traffic in her neighborhood anymore,” Tant said. “So Bloomin Blinds made her late for work three times.”
Not only does Bloomin Blinds give you the best blinds, but they also provide their customers energy-saving options.
“Whether your have single pane, double pane, or double pane windows with low E, which are the newest windows out there, they’re only going to give you a certain percentage, which means you’re still losing up to 50 percent of your energy through your windows,” Tant said. “So by the time that you add something like our shutter to your windows, then you move them from a 2.3 up to almost an 8 in insulation ratings.” They offer different products to help save you money on energy costs.
Bloomin Blinds in Birmingham prides itself on still providing a “small business feel” in an ever-growing city environment.
“It’s one of those things where we operate, seamless and efficient, like a company should, but you still get that down-home, family business feel in everything that we do,” Tant said.
