BIRMINGHAM — Prosecutors and defense attorneys selected the jury for an Odenville man’s murder trial on Monday, March 28.
The jury is composed of 12 jurors and one alternate, consisting of four black females, three white males, one black male, and five white females. The trial is taking place at the Mel Bailey Criminal Justice Building, and opening statements will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29.

Jacob Naquade Chambers, 33, of Odenville, is charged with murder in the shooting death of his stepfather, 56-year-old Paul Edward Trull Jr. The victim was killed on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at a home in the 7500 block of Weems Lane in Clay.
As for the defense in the murder, court documents state that Chambers was upset regarding a confrontation during which the victim had been accused of assaulting another family member. A court affidavit states Chambers shot Trull with a pistol.

The murder case was sent to the Grand Jury which returned the murder indictment. Chambers is considered innocent until proven guilty, and his attorney said in a previous statement he is confident his client will be cleared of all charges.
