LIPSCOMB — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the body found in Lipscomb on Saturday, March 19, at approximately 1:33 p.m.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Christopher Duane Watkins, 56, of Birmingham, sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault.

The incident occurred in the 3rd Place South, between 3rd Street and Avenue F in Lipscomb.
“The death is being investigated as a homicide,” Deputy Coroner Williams Yates said.
