BIRMINGHAM — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a “hazardous weather outlook” for tonight and the coming week.

According to the NWS, the counties impacted by the hazardous weather outlook include Marion, Lamar, Fayette, Winston, Walker, Blount, Etowah, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Clay, Randolph, Sumter, Greene, Hale, Perry, Bibb, Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Marengo, Dallas, Autauga, Lowndes, Elmore, Montgomery, Macon, Bullock, Lee, Russell, Pike, and Barbour.
The NWS states another round of severe thunderstorms will be possible in the afternoon and evening of Friday, March 18, with quarter-size hail, damaging winds up to 60 mph, and some tornadoes possible. Localized flooding will be possible with any storms as well.
Severe thunderstorms are possible next Tuesday, March 22, afternoon through the morning of Wednesday, March 23, across all of Central Alabama. Threats include tornadoes, damaging winds up to 60 mph, and quarter-size hail.
Shelby County is currently under a flood advisory until 11:30 a.m.
“Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles,” NWS stated. “Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.”
Hewitt-Trussville High School baseball game against Cullman High School scheduled for 7:00 p.m. has been canceled due to the weather.
