David Hart Shiver passed away suddenly while doing what he loved, playing tennis, at age 68 on March 4, 2022, in Trussville.
David was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Moore Shiver Jr., and his mother, Hart Wylie Smith Shiver, of Athens, GA, his son, David Christopher Shiver, and son, Ehren Hart Shiver, of Birmingham.
David is survived by his loving wife, Leslie Raybon Shiver, of Trussville, his son, Ian Hart Shiver (Sarah Beth), of Huntsville, and brother Samuel Moore Shiver III (Ann), of Marshall, North Carolina.
David was born in Decatur, GA, on March 18, 1953. After graduating from Jacksonville State University with his Bachelor of Science in Psychology, he joined the Alabama Air National Guard, where he served his country as an F4 Phantom pilot for 12 years. He was a graduate of the USAF Fighter Weapons Instructor Course. After Dave was honorably discharged in 1990, he went to work for FedEx as a pilot. He retired from FedEx in 2014 after nearly 25 years. During retirement, David took on many hobbies, including, but not limited to, playing tennis, driving his antique automobiles, riding motorcycles, fixing anything that was broken, and traveling to spend time with his family, whom he adored so very much. He enjoyed road trips, and he loved the beach. Throughout his retirement, he spent extra time loving and doting on his wife and two dogs, Gracie and Izzie. He enjoyed catching up with his friends when he had the chance, and he started every morning with a Chai Tea at the local Trussville Starbucks before heading to the tennis courts. David will be missed dearly by all who were lucky enough to know him.
