LEEDS — The City of Leeds suffered storm damage when a suspected tornado moved through the Dunnavant area on Thursday, February 17.

In a statement released on www.leedsalabama.org, a tree fell on a mobile home that trapped a couple inside their home on Cedar Avenue. The mobile home was split in two by the fallen tree; neighbors heard the couple call for help and rushed to their rescue. The couple was successfully rescued from the damaged mobile home.
Some other homes in the area sustained damage, but no injuries were reported.
The City of Leeds crews and the Church of the Highlands Disaster Team worked into the night to help with cleanup.
City crews were back on the scene this morning after Alabama Power cleared the power lines and continue to work in the cleanup efforts under the direction of the City’s Public Works Supervisor, Johnny Warren.
The City of Leeds would like to thank everyone who has helped and continues to work in these disaster restoration efforts.
