BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) reports an arrest has been made in connection to the homicide of 18-year-old De’Undray Nakil Haggard on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
According to the BPD, a 16-year-old juvenile of Birmingham was arrested after a warrant for Capital Murder with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.
“The juvenile suspect was arrested on February 15, 2022, and transported to the Jefferson County Jail where he will remain in custody with no bond,” Sergeant Rodarius Mauldin said.

Reports state that Just after 8:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of John Bryant Road on a call of a person shot. When officers arrived, Haggard was found on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Haggard was pronounced dead on the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the victim met the suspect at the location,” Mauldin said. “During their interaction, the suspect shot the victim multiple times prior to fleeing the location of the foot.”
This is Birmingham’s 8th murder investigation of 2022.
