MADISON COUNTY — An off-duty Huntsville police officer was charged with capital murder on Friday, January 7.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), David McCoy, 28, of Madison, was arrested by special agents with ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) after responding to a death investigation at approximately 11:00 a.m. at Lawsons Ridge Drive in Huntsville.
McCoy, an officer with the Huntsville Police Department, was off duty at the time of the incident.
McCoy is being held at Madison County Jail without bond.
Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Madison County District Attorney’s Office.
