BIRMINGHAM — A Birmingham shooting has killed one person and injured another person on Tuesday, January 4, at approximately 3:10 p.m.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, Leeco Whittington, 24, of Birmingham, was killed when two unknown suspects approached the two victims on foot and began firing shots at them. The suspects fled the scene in an unknown silver sedan.
“West Precinct officers were dispatched to 36 South Park Road on a report of a person shot,” Officer Truman Fitzgerald said. “Officers arrived on the scene and discovered two males shot in the parking lot.”
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and transported both victims to UAB Hospital.
“Leeco Whittington succumbed to his injuries at UAB Hospital,” Fitzgerald said. “The second victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.”
No arrests have been made at this time.
