AUBURN — Bo Nix, a Pinson Valley High School graduate and former Mr. Football in the state of Alabama, will suit up on the other side of the country, according to an article from CBS Sports.
Nix will play at Oregon next year as a graduate transfer to finish out his collegiate career. Oregon plays in the PAC-12. Nix was the starting quarterback for Auburn from 2019-2021. hereHe led Pinson Valley to back-to-back state championships in 2017 and 2018.
Nix announced the news on his Instagram account Sunday evening, December 12, 2021.
In 2019, he went 200-for-351 for 2,366 yards as a freshman starter at Auburn with 15 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, leading the Tigers to a 9-4 record and being named the SEC Freshman of the Year. His sophomore campaign in 2020 was less successful as Auburn and Nix himself struggled to find consistency. He went 214-for-357 for 2,415 yards, but threw 12 touchdowns and 7 interceptions and the Tigers went 6-5, including losses to rivals Alabama and Georgia, as well as a loss to Northwestern in the Liberty Bowl.
Auburn coach Gus Malzahn was fired after that season.
Under new Auburn head man Bryan Harsin, Nix went 197-for-323, throwing for 2,294 yards and 11 scores vs. 3 interceptions, but Auburn struggled to transition overall, dropping to 6-6. Nix only played in 10 of those games before breaking an ankle against Mississippi State.
Nix played inconsistently for much of the season, enough so that he was benched during Auburn’s Homecoming game against Georgia State. He went 13 of 27 for 156 yards before being pulled for LSU transfer T.J. Finley.
Auburn will play Houston in the Birmingham Bowl on December 28.
