BIRMINGHAM — Two teenagers remain in the Jefferson County Jail as prosecutors have forwarded their case details to a grand jury for potential indictment on murder charges.
Juriel Dowdell, 19, and D’Coreyonne Hall, 17, each face a murder charge for the shooting death Cornelius Ja’Shawn Hilliard.
Hilliard, 21, was killed at a retail clothing store,Superior for Men, in Roebuck on September 4.
In a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, Jefferson County District Judge Katrina Ross ruled that there was enough probable cause to believe that Dowdell and Hall committed the crime and bound the case over to the grand jury.
In the shooting incident that killed Hilliard, another man was also killed. Reginald Curtis Crawford died of gunshot wounds that day, but Birmingham Police categorized his death as justifiable.
