TRUSSVILLE — The Hewitt-Trussville Girls and Boys Cross Country teams both qualified for the 2021 AHSAA state hampionships after outstanding performances at the Sectional meet on Thursday of last week.
The HT Girls finished in second place out of eight teams.
The top four teams advanced to State. The Huskies had all five scorers place within the top 20 overall.
Kylee Sisk finished 4th overall with a time of 20:48.16.
Avery Cahoon finished 6th overall with a time of 20:55.52.
Maci Mills was 11th overall with a time of 21:10.35. Sophia Knox was 13th overall with a time of 21:13.19.
Natalie Wiram was 18th overall with a time of 21:41.08.

The HT Boys also finished second as a team to qualify for state. The Huskies were led by Mitchell Phillips who placed 1st in the race. Phillips finished with a time of 16:43.65. Tristan Teer placed 3rd overall with a time of 16:50.55. Jack Pate was 16th overall with a time of 17:49.57. Rush Lachina was 23rd overall with a time of 18:05.42 and Thomas Himes was 24th overall with a time of 18:05.97.

The Huskies will now travel to the 2021 AHSAA State Championships that will be held in Moulton tomorrow, November 6, 2021. The girls will race at 8:30am and the boys will race at 9:30am.
