MONTGOMERY — The Alabama Board of Pardons and Parole denied parole earlier this month for four men convicted in Jefferson County while continuing the hearing for another.
The board denied parole for Adrian Baker, who was sentenced to concurrent 25-year sentences for first-degree rape and burglary charges. Baker is serving a separate, consecutive 10-year term for robbery in the second degree.
Kenneth Michael Dillard’s parole was also denied. Dillard is serving 17 years for first-degree attempted kidnapping, three counts of first-degree robbery, and third-degree robbery. He was convicted in 2015.
Also denied parole: Mardarius Johnson, convicted in 2009 on a pair of first-degree robbery charges. Johnson is serving concurrent 20-year sentences for those crimes.
Cordero Reid’s case was denied as well. Reid is serving a life sentence for attempted murder, as well as a concurrent charge for discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling or vehicle. He was convicted in 2006.
One inmate, John David Strong, had his hearing continued. Strong was sentenced to 40 years for third-degree robbery and has been convicted of promoting prison contraband.
Overall, the parole board held 23 hearings, granting parole in only four cases.
