JEFFERSON COUNTY — The victim of a fatal mobile home fire in Morris has been identified.
On Thursday, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office released the identity as Logan Morick, a 7-year-old boy from Morris. According to Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates, Morick was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The Palmerdale Fire Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the fire, which took place in the 7600 block of Self Lane in Morris on Wednesday morning. Upon arrival, authorities say the structure was found with heavy fire and smoke. After the fire was extinguished, the decedent was located inside a bedroom where death was pronounced.
The cause and origin of the fire is being investigated by the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
