UPDATE: The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as a 7-year-old boy.
Police say they received a call of a mobile home that was on fire in Morris at approximately 11:39 a.m. Wednesday. The caller, according to a release from the sheriff’s office, stated that there was a young boy trapped in a bedroom inside the home.
The Palmerdale Fire Department arrived on the scene and attempted to rescue the child, however those efforts were unsuccessful due to the extent the fire.
The Alabama State Fire Marshall’s Office will be handling the investigation into the cause of the fire.

JEFFERSON COUNTY — One person is dead after a mobile home caught fire in Jefferson County Wednesday morning.
The victim has not yet been identified following the accident, which took place after 11 a.m. on Morris Majestic Road and Self Lane in Morris, according to reports.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene on Wednesday, including the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the Palmerdale Fire Department and the Glenwood Fire Department.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause and circumstances surrounding the fire.
