PINSON — Rising senior quarterback Khalib Johnson has announced his college plans.
The 6-foot-2 righty took to Twitter to make his verbal commitment to Louisville on Saturday. He is the Cardinals’ first commit of the 2022 class.

Johnson chose Louisville over Virginia Tech, Kansas and South Florida.
The 2020 All-Tribune honorable mention scored 24 touchdowns for Clay-Chalkville last season, five of them on the ground and 19 more through the air. He completed 125 of 201 attempts for 1,923 yards to go with 235 yards on the ground.
The dual-threat QB led his Cougars to the Class 6A quarterfinals after reaching the playoffs as the 2-seed coming out of Region 6. Clay-Chalkville finished up the 2020 season with a record of 11-2.
Johnson’s favorite target was Marquarius White, who pulled in 40 receptions for 877 yards and 13 scores. The junior wideout has since collected college offers from Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Michigan and others.
White also holds a Louisville offer. Time will tell if Johnson’s decision will attract White to the Bluegrass state.
