FAIRFIELD — The Birmingham Police Department reports investigators are conducting an officer-involved shooting investigation.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at a home located at 5317 Acadia Terrace in Fairfield. A report from the Birmingham Police Department says the Vice/Narcotics Unit along with officers from the Tactical Operations Precinct responded to the location to execute a narcotics search warrant. BPD says officers were immediately confronted with gunfire from an armed suspect upon arrival.
Officers then returned fire, striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates a firearm was recovered on scene. The Alabama State Bureau of investigation will be the lead Investigative agency in this investigation.
