COLBERT COUNTY — The Colbert County Emergency Management Agency has issued an impassable travel advisory.
EMA director Michael D. Smith says all county roads and bridges should be considered impassable until further notice.
“Members of the general public are advised that when roads and bridges become impassable, all travel should be suspended or delayed,” said Smith. “Only emergency vehicles should travel on county roads and bridges until further notice.”
In Morgan County, authorities have reported an accident involving more than 20 cars on Highway 231 near Lacey’s Spring. According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, only minor injuries were sustained during the Monday-morning wreck.
Several cars were found in ditches, but were eventually pulled back onto the highway.
The pile up was first reported at 6:28 a.m. Monday, closing the northbound lanes of Highway 231. ALGO reported the road was reopened shortly after 11:30 a.m.
