BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the Feb. 4, 2021, shooting death of a toddler in the Wenonah community. Major Turner, 2, was killed in the shooting and his mother was injured.
The shooting happened in the 2900 block of Bryant Road, in the Kimbrough Housing complex. Turner was taken to Children’s of Alabama where he died Friday at 2:45 a.m.
The mother was taken to the hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.
Police said the mother and her young son were inside their home when shots were fired from outside. It is unclear if the apartment was targetted and no arrests have been announced.
