TRUSSVILLE — A restaurant that has been in Trussville for nearly 28 years is moving to Clay and will open on Monday, Dec. 14, 2020.
Paul’s Hot Dogs is moving from the Trussville Shopping Center, off Chalkville Mountain Road, to the Clay Marketplace, the same shopping center as Publix. The address is 5180 Old Springville Road.
Owner Martin Paul LaRussa said the restaurant has struggled this year, after being in the same location for nearly three decades. He blames the pandemic and the current location.
“It’s a bigger place and that shopping center is dying. “I wish it wasn’t. I hate to move but my business has suffered here lately because of COVID plus everybody moving out.”
The Trussville Shopping Center has seen several large businesses leave including Kmart, Office Depot, Verizon, Aldi, Mr. Burch and Seafood and Chicken Box. A new Mexican restaurant, El Patron, announced this month it is moving into the former location of Frontera Mexican Grill.
