CENTER POINT — A woman in her third trimester of pregnancy was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020.
Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene in the 200 block of 25th Avenue Northeast, at 6:39 p.m., where a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a culvert. According to Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates, the vehicle then caught fire.
Inside the vehicle, deputies found a male driver and a pregnant female passenger in need of medical attention. Deputies performed CPR on the woman until paramedics arrived.
The woman, 23-year-old Mylisha Emori Allen, of Birmingham, was taken to the hospital where she later died. The child was delivered but did not survive, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s traffic accident reconstruction team was dispatched to investigate the wreck.
