BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a domestic-related quadruple shooting that happened at an apartment complex.
Two people were shot and killed and two others were shot and injured. The incident happened on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, at 1024 12th Street North.
Officers were called to the scene just after 11 a.m., where they found Loretta Frazier, 65, and Derick Williams, 40, both of Birmingham, dead. Two others were injured and were taken to the hospital for treatment. A female surviving victim is in stable condition and a male surviving victim had injuries that were not life-threatening, according to Sgt. Rodarius Mauldin.
“The preliminary investigation suggest Derick Williams, who was in a previous romantic relationship with the surviving female, came to the location and shot all three people inside,” Mauldin said in a press release. “The wounded male victim inside was able to return fire fatally wounding Williams.
Mauldin said there has been a history of domestic-related incidents at the apartment, including a domestic report that was filed within 24 hours prior to the shooting.
