RANDOLPH COUNTY – The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an aggravated cruelty to animals case after at least 10 animals were discovered dead at a residence on Friday, Oct. 30, 2020.
Randolph County deputies answered a call to the 100 block of County Road 625 where a tenant found several of her animals killed. According to police, the tenant said they were in the process of moving out and their landlord had threatened to do something to their cats and dogs.
On Friday, Oct. 30, the tenant discovered nine cats and one dog that had been killed at the residence. On Saturday, deputies aided the Greater Birmingham Humane Society with the rescue of several animals that were still at the residence. Dozens of cats were believed to be living at the property and rescue efforts continue.
The landlord, Terry Michael Bennett, has been arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals. The investigation continues.
