According to multiple reports, Southeastern Conference presidents have adopted a plan to play a 10-game, conference-only football schedule this fall.
Furthermore, kickoff has been delayed until Sept. 26., three weeks later than the scheduled Labor Day weekend start.
The conference will maintain its divisional structure, splitting its teams into eastern and western divisions. Each SEC team will play its eight previously scheduled conference opponents and add two additional opponents from the opposite division.
Full team-by-team schedules have not been announced.
As usual, the winner of the west will face the winner of the east for the SEC title in Atlanta on Dec. 19.
Thursday’s announcement eliminates several high-profile games: Alabama-USC, Auburn-North Carolina, Georgia-Virginia, Tennessee-Oklahoma, LSU-Texas, Mississippi State-NC State, Baylor-Ole Miss, Arkansas-Notre Dame and Vanderbilt-Kansas State.
