PINSON — Though the Pinson Valley football team will head into the 2020 season with a restructured program following the arrival of a brand new coaching staff, the Indians will usher out a roster that consists of some of the top players in the state of Alabama, according to 247Sports.
The sports recruiting publication ranked the top 50 Class of 2021 recruits in Alabama and Pinson Valley is home to two rising seniors who have garnered tremendous interest in the college ranks.
Sitting atop the board is Ga’Quincy McKinstry. The senior is ranked as the second best cornerback in the country and the No. 22 best overall recruit in the nation. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect recently narrowed his list of college choices down to Auburn, Alabama, Clemson, LSU and Georgia.
The two-sport star concluded his junior campaign on the gridiron with 47 catches for 700 yards and 12 touchdowns. Defensively, which is where McKinstry is expected to play in college, the 5-star recruit snagged one interception for an Indians defense that was ranked as one of the best in the state.
As a member of the Indians’ formidable basketball team, McKinstry recorded 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game with 69 steals.
Following in McKinstry’s stead is senior running back Kenji Christian. The speedster recorded 451 rushing yards on 63 carries with four touchdowns in 2019. Christian currently has a plethora of Power 5 schools vying for his attention, such as Ole Miss, Arkansas, Duke, Georgia and Georgia Tech.
The two will be apart of a Pinson Valley offense that welcomes transfer quarterback Zach Pryon along with the arrival of offensive coordinator Dillon Griggs.
