FAIRFIELD — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the man killed within a Dodge Avenger on Friday night in Fairfield.
The man, identified as Kenyada Juan Mitchell, 29, of Saint Stephen, Ala., was found shot to death inside a white Dodge Avenger at around 10:15 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2020, in the 4100 Block of Lloyd Noland Parkway.
Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies reported to the scene following a call of multiple shot fired. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Mitchell and a 26-year-old female passenger within the Avenger — it is unknown if the female passenger sustained any injuries. Mitchell sustained life-threatening injuries and was subsequently pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m.
According to the sheriff’s office, witnesses said that a white Tahoe or Yukon-style SUV with a sunroof followed and then drove up to the Avenger as it drove on Lloyd Noland Parkway. The passenger of the SUV began to shoot at the Avenger, which slowed to a stop.
Upon stopping, it was discovered that Mitchell had been struck.
