MORRIS — A 5-year-old is dead after accidentally shooting himself at a home in Morris, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said on Tuesday.
The boy, identified as 5-year-old Silas Holt, of Montevallo, was pronounced dead by doctors at Children’s of Alabama at 3:07 a.m. on Monday, May 25.
The shooting occurred at 8:28 p.m. on Sunday, in the 2000 block of Triple Creek Circle, in Morris.
Media reports indicate that the child found a gun and accidentally shot himself in the face. The circumstances surrounding the death are still being investigated by the Morris Police Department.
