BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office is asking the public for help identifying skeletal remains found on March 7, 2020.
The remains were found in the 6000 block of New Castle Road, in the Morris area. Deputies said they were called to the scene after property owners, who were clearing trash, found the remains.
The coroner’s office was unable to identify the remains. The office did release some information that could help identify the person.
The remains belong to a white man, aged 40 to 60 years old. He stood between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He had straight, light brown hair.
The remains were clothed in a maroon, short-sleeved T-shirt, tan coveralls and tan, canvas/brown leather high-top boots.
Coroner Bill Yates said he believes the death occurred “multiple years ago.”
Other notable features include:
• Earlier in his life, the decedent fractured the bones in his right lower leg near the ankle and had orthopedic hardware installed to repair the injury.
• The decedent also fractured his left 9th rib earlier in life.
• The decedent had all his natural teeth at the time of his death but did not have his wisdom teeth (3rd molars).
The coroner’s office is requesting assistance from the public with identifying the skeletal remains. Anyone who believes that the remains could be those of a missing family member or friend should contact the coroner’s office at (205) 930-3603.
