BIRMINGHAM — Police in Birmingham are investigating after Shot Spotter technology alerted officers to a shooting victim on Tuesday at approximately 9:55 p.m., Sgt. Rodarius Mauldin said.
“Officers from South Precinct responded to a Shot Spotter call of four rounds fired in the 963 47th Street North. Officers arrived and discovered the victim unresponsive on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound,” Mauldin said. “Birmingham Fire and Rescue and Jefferson County Coroner arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.”
Mauldin said the identity of the victim will be released upon notification of next of kin.
“Details are very limited in this investigation,” Mauldin said. “There are no suspects in custody. A motive has not been established in this homicide investigation. This is an ongoing investigation and additional details will be provided as they come available.”
