BLOUNTSVILLE — Two people were killed in a three-vehicle crash near Blountsville on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said in a statement the crash happened on U.S. 278, 5 miles northwest of Blountsville.
Around 2:44 p.m., troopers responded to the crash. Investigators said a Honda Pilot, driven by Micky D. Murphree, 57, was struck by a 2015 Toyota Tacoma. Murphree’s vehicle then crossed the centerline and was struck by a 2003 Peterbilt tractor-trailer.
Murphree and a passenger in the Honda Pilot were pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was identified as Judy Lee Thrasher, 68, of Pinson.
The driver of the Toyota Tacoma and the tractor-trailer were not hurt.
State Troopers are continuing to investigate.
