TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville City Council approved an agreement between the mayor and the Rotary Club, concerning the Rotary Club’s donation of a clock for the redeveloped downtown area, during its regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
The clock will be installed by the city and all maintenance will be the city’s responsibility, according to the agreement. The total cost of the clock and a plaque will be $27,995. The Rotary Club will reimburse the city for the project, with a beginning sum of $10,000, then will make payments of $5,000 annually.
A new plaza will be the focal point of the downtown revamp. The Trussville Rotary Daybreak Club is donating the large clock to be the centerpiece of the design.
Renderings of the plans for the corner of Main Street and North Chalkville Road were revealed during the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019. Mayor Buddy Choat showed images of what the corner of the old Braden’s Furniture store could look like. Design on the area includes parking and new sidewalks.
