TRUSSVILLE — Hewitt-Trussville ushered in the 2019 fall National Signing Day on Wednesday with a ceremony to recognize 10 senior student-athletes who signed letters of intent to further their athletic careers in the collegiate ranks.
Athletes throughout baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball and cross country were represented in the event.
The 2018 state champion and 2019 state semifinalist baseball team recognized four players who will take their talents to the next level:
- Kerrigan Edmonson (Alabama State University)
- Michael Fowler (LSU)
- Keith Lanum (Bishop State Community College)
- Tyler Mauldin (Northwest Florida State College)
The 2019 state championship softball team saw two players sign:
- Abigail Dorsett (Samford University)
- Kaitlyn Hughes (University of South Alabama)
The girls’ basketball team, which advanced to the 2019 Final Four for the first time in program history, recognized Leah Harrison. She signed with the University of West Alabama.
The girls’ soccer team and the football team watched as Jordan Lynn signed to continue her soccer career at Mercer University. Lynn made national headlines this football season as she became the first Hewitt-Trussville female to play varsity football.
Volleyball’s Trenady Lockett signed with Coastal Alabama Community College and cross country’s Nathan Pitts will lace up with Jefferson State Community College next season. The Hewitt-Trussville boys’ cross country team finished fifth in the 2019 state championship meet this past weekend.
