CLAY — Clay-Chalkville returns home this Friday for the second round of the 2019 AHSAA Class 6A state playoffs after dispatching Helena, 17-0, in the first round this past week.
The Cougars have advanced into the two round for the third consecutive season.
Up next for Clay-Chalkville is an Athens team that defeated Buckhorn, 62-14, in the opening round. The 8-3 Eagles have struggled during the latter half of the season. They have gone 2-2 following a six-game winning streak that was snapped on Oct. 18 at Muscle Shoals.
Clay-Chalkville enters the game winners of six straight.
