OAKVILLE — The Hewitt-Trussville girls’ cross country team concluded the 2019 season with a fourth place finish at the Class 7A AHSAA state cross country championship in Oakville, Alabama.
The girls finished behind only Baker, Mountain Brook and champion Auburn. They were paced by Maci Mills, who finished No. 18 out of 177 runners with a time of 19:23.39. In all, the girls had five runners finish in the top 50: Mills, Sophia Knox (32nd), Kinley Harris (33rd), Kylee Sisk (46th) and Mia Cane (50th).
Meanwhile, the Hewitt-Trussville boys’ team placed fifth behind Mountain Brook, Auburn, Vestavia Hills and champion Huntsville.
The boys were led by Nathan Knox, who finished No. 25 out of 182 runners with a time of 16:30.19. Rounding out the top 50 for the boys were: Aaron Himes (32nd), Mitchell Phillips (34th) and Alex Jones (47th).
