MOUNT OLIVE — One person died on Monday evening following a car crash on Brookside Road near Woodward Road in Mount Olive, Alabama.
When deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene at around 7:53 p.m., they discovered that a car had slammed into a tree and had caught fire. The car reportedly had been traveling southbound when it left the road.
Witnesses heard the crash and attempted to open the car’s door, but they were unable to.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze. Once the fire was out, they discovered the driver dead with no other people inside.
The body was released to the Jefferson County Coroner’s office.
No identity has been released at this time.
