TRUSSVILLE — A longtime Trussville resident and inspirational figure has passed away a the age of 103.
Mary Barnhouse Reid passed on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019. Reid recently celebrated her birthday at Peachtree Assisted Living, in Trussville. Reid’s family and loved ones attended the 50s-themed party. As they gathered around the matriarch of their family, her children and grandchildren said they were thankful to be able to spend quality time with Reid.

Reid said her secret to a long life was to never give up. With a smile on her face and love in her heart, Reid said she knew she was loved and couldn’t believe all the people that came to celebrate her birthday.

Obituary for Mary Barnhouse “Nookie” Reid
She is survived by her children, Carl Thomas Reid (Marcie), Carolyn Crittenden (Wallace) and Nina Orr (Johnny); 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren
Funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, Alabama.
The family would like to thank the staff at Peachtree Assisted Living and Amedisys Hospice for their wonderful care of Mrs. Reid.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or the Gideon’s International.
