Despite Hewitt-Trussville’s season coming to a premature close, the Huskies managed to leave a mark on the high school football landscape as they head into the offseason without a playoff birth for the first time since 2012.
Following Hewitt-Trussville’s 35-29 victory over then-No. 1 Thompson, the Warriors plunged four spots in the Class 7A poll as McGill-Toolen jumped into the top slot. For the Huskies’ effort, the voters awarded them 10 votes to conclude the season just 15 points outside of the No. 10 spot. This follows this past week’s poll in which Hewitt-Trussville received no votes.
As for Class 6A, both Pinson Valley and Clay-Chalkville remained steady as they wrap up the regular season this week.
As for Center Point, the Eagles remained out of the Class 5A top 10 after falling in a close game to No. 4 Central Clay County. Springville received no votes after the Tigers defeated St. Clair County in their season finale.
