TRUSSVILLE – The Trussville Rotary Daybreak Club has named its Don Haisten Students and Teachers of the Month for October from Hewitt-Trussville High School (HTHS) and Clay-Chalkville High School (CCHS).
The Student of the Month from HTHS is Molly Horn. Molly is a freshman and is involved in freshman board, Dancers Against Cancer Junior Board, Wellness Club, and previously SCA and the dance team. Molly is the National Junior Honors Society Vice President and the recipient of several dance scholarships.
Molly selected as her Teacher of the Month Valerie Lemmons, her theatre teacher. Molly said of her teacher: “Ms. Lemmons is always positive and uplifting and is a great teacher.”
Jayla Cooper, a junior, is the CCHS Student of the Month. Jayla is involved in volleyball, choir, track, and CIA (her sorority). She is a member of the honor society and received a sophomore achievement award. In her spare time, she enjoys practicing sports.
Jayla selected her English Teacher, Jocelyn Gant, as her Teacher of the Month. “Ms. Gant has pushed me to pursue my full potential and has taken on a maternal role for me,” said Jayla.
The program is sponsored by Jim ‘n Nick’s Bar-B-Q. Each honoree received a gift card from Jim ‘n Nick’s Bar-B-Q and a framed certificate.
