TRUSSVILLE — A nationwide recall has been issued by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for more than 50,000 school buses because of a safety concern involving seats.
The recall pertains to:
- Saf-T-Liner EFX
- Minotour
- Saf-T-Liner C2
- Saf-T-Liner HDX
The recall alert for 53,528 buses is due to a safety concern with SynTec S3B or S3C seats. Those seats were made with styrene blocks that don’t have sufficient absorption around the steel seat frame for back support. The NHTSA says the buses do not comply with federal school bus requirements.
The concerns with the seats are that the risk of injury is increased in the event of a crash.
