HOOVER —The Hoover Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that happened around 8:05 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019.
Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates said a couple was traveling south on Interstate 459 at mile marker 11 when the car left the roadway and struck a tree.
Tommie Riley, 72, of Shorter, was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:58 p.m. His wife was also transported to the hospital. There is no word on her condition.
