TUSCALOOSA — A former Alabama football player was shot in the arm in a dispute at a Tuscaloosa bar on Monday night.
Malcolm Faciane, a former Alabama tight end, was shot in the arm following an altercation with Anatwan Somerville at the High Tide Bar where Facaine works as a bouncer.
According to media reports, Somerville, 28, was denied entry at the bar, which led to a verbal altercation that escalated when Somerville pulled out a gun and discharged it several times. One of those rounds hit Faciane in the arm.
Faciane was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He told The Tuscaloosa News that he is recovering well.
Somerville was charged with one count of attempted murder. His bond was set at $60,000.
Faciane redshirted during the 2011 season and played as a reserve for the Crimson Tide in 2012. He appeared in eight games and did not catch a pass during his career. He was a four-star member of Alabama’s 2011 signing class.
