JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after witnesses said a store clerk was hit by a car driven by a customer.
Deputies responded to the call in the 1000 block of Highway 78, on Monday, Oct. 14, 2019. When they arrived on the scene, the deputies found a man injured in the parking lot of a Marathon gas station.
Witnesses told investigators a woman appearing to be in her 20s got into a dispute with the clerk. When she left, the clerk followed her out of the store, according to the sheriff’s office. That’s when the woman hit the clerk with her gray Dodge Charger.
The clerk was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Detectives are reviewing surveillance video and asking the public to come forward with information pertaining to the case. The sheriff’s office can be reached at (205) 325-1450.
