TRUSSVILLE — A local couple is planning to open a CBD oil store and lounge in the heart of downtown Trussville. The Pink Cannabis CBD Oil Store and Lounge will be located at 194 Main Street, pending inspections and business license approval.
Dee and Mike Edwards are in the process of designing the space for their new store. They would like to open for business by the end of November or the beginning of December.
“I am excited to bring this to Trussville residents, to educate the community and to show them different ways to implement CBD oil into their regimen,” said Dee Edwards.
The store will carry CBD-infused products including oils, teas, hand and foot wraps, feminine wash, face masks and edible products, including gummies.
“Everyone loves the gummies but our gummies are going to have more milligrams than a lot of other franchises,” said Dee Edwards. “Some of those places have gummies with 10 milligrams, but ours is going to be 50 milligrams for a gummy.”
The store will carry high-dosage CBD products from 6,000 milligrams. The level of THC in the products will be from zero to 0.3%, according to Edwards.
“I find that the CBD oil products work better with a little bit of the THC in them. I do suggest monitoring levels, especially for people who have to take drug tests,” said Dee Edwards.
The Edwards’ have been testing different products with family and friends to ensure they provide brands they trust.
“We will carry Mary Medical products, Urban Bud, Charlotte’s Web, Funky Farms and we will be producing a variety of products ourselves, including CBD oil charcoal soap for skin conditions,” said Dee Edwards.
Dee Edwards’ inspiration came after her father was diagnosed with cancer in 2016. She began researching alternative treatments for pain in cancer patients.
“I found that marijuana was really good for cancer patients, but it wasn’t legal here in Alabama,” said Dee Edwards. “So I started trying to figure out what my father could take to help with his pain level and that’s when I found out about CBD oil products.”
Edwards has since participated in extensive research, expos, conferences and workshops to educate herself on the use of CBD oil.
“It has low side-effects but it also reduces pain, inflammation, whatever is going on in your body, there’s a CBD oil product for it,” said Dee Edwards.
For those who have tried CBD products and have not seen an improvement, Dee Edwards said she believes the higher dosage products that will be offered at her store will work.
“For some things, you have to get on a regime to really feel the effects and see the difference. If there is someone having issues with sleeping and relaxing, anxiety or panic attacks, they’re more likely to experience the relief much quicker than someone who is in pain,” said Dee Edwards.
She also believes CBD products could be the answer to the country’s opioid epidemic.
“My father had extreme pain beyond pain medicine,” she said. “This is how people end up becoming addicted to pain medicine. I really do want to see people who are addicted to pain medicine to find other methods.”
The Edwards’ hope their new store will offer Trussville residents and shoppers a positive experience.
“People can come in and lounge around and drink coffee or tea that has CBD products in them,” said Mike Edwards. “It’s going to be really chic and upscale.”
The Edwards’ would like to open the store by Black Friday 2019. They are still waiting on a fire inspection and a business license approval.
