PINSON — Week seven has come and gone and all five teams within The Trussville Tribune coverage area returned to action this past week. Pinson Valley, Clay-Chalkville and Center Point all recorded victories, while Hewitt-Trussville and Springville lost its respective games.
As with every win, there are players who have stepped up and excelled. Clay-Chalkville’s Damione Ward accounted for over 230 yards of total offense. He passed for 195 yards after going 11-for-15 in the air. Ward also rushed for 41 yards with one touchdown. Pinson Valley’s Antione Williams recorded 1.5 sacks with two tackles for a loss. Gardendale was only able to record less than 50 yards in the game.
As always, choosing this week’s MVP of the week has been difficult, but a winner must be chosen regardless. So without further ado, week six’s OrthoAlabama Spine & Sports Player of the week goes to: Pinson Valley running back Kenji Christian.
Christian, a junior running back, spearheaded an Indians rushing attack that overwhelmed Gardendale in the second half to the tune of three rushing touchdowns. Christian rushed for 176 yards on 27 attempts with two touchdowns. Pinson Valley recorded 321 total yards with 254 of those yards coming on the ground.
