From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — Marco’s Pizza in Trussville served up a big surprise to local firefighters Friday.
After learning Station 1, on Main Street, had been to non-stop calls all day Friday, Marco’s owner Darryl McDaniel brought five free pizzas to feed the crew.
“I love being involved in the community and helping out,” said McDaniel. “I love giving back to those who put their lives on the line for our safety every day.”
The fire station was so busy Friday that when McDaniel went to deliver the pizzas, they were out on a call. They returned back to the station minutes later and were able to enjoy the hot meal.
McDaniel didn’t hesitate to make the delivery, even on one of Marco’s busiest nights of the week.
Capt. Hank Moore, with Trussville Fire and Rescue, was happy to see the pizza when he came in from a call on Friday evening.
“It’s nice to know that on days like today, when we’re really busy, we’ve got the community support,” said Moore.
Fire Chief Tim Shotts said he is also thankful for that support.
“They’ve been busy,” he said. “That’s what they do. We appreciate this.”
