Center Point ticked up a notch in the updated Alabama Sports Writers Association rankings.
The Eagles now sit in eighth place in Class 5A after dispatching Class 6A Homewood in the final seconds.
Center Point next turns to unranked Class 5A Springville in what will be the Eagles’ final home game of the season. The Eagles will conclude the final three games of the regular season on the road against two one-loss teams in Central Clay County and Sylacauga.
Hewitt-Trussville remained No. 10 in Class 7A despite holding off Huffman this past Friday. The Huskies face unranked region foe Vestavia Hills this week. The Rebels will look to bounce Hewitt-Trussville out of the polls altogether with a victory this week. A Husky loss would follow a fall that began after a defeat to Hoover in week three in which the Huskies were competing for the top spot in Class 7A.
