TRUSSVILLE — There will be something for everyone at this year’s silent auction fundraiser at Cahaba Elementary School on Sunday, Oct. 6.
PTO president Michelle Daniel said this year’s theme is “Camp-a-Thon”.
“Our Camp-a-Thon is our big fundraiser for the year and part of that is our silent auction,” said Daniel. “The grade levels get to come and set up their own campsite. Some of them are glamping, some of them have Airstreams, it’s going to be fun!”
Items up for bid include home decor, spa treatments, cleaning services, family game night and date night. There are 48 baskets available.
Fundraising chair Jennifer Brown said the fundraiser will go towards improving Cahaba Elementary for the kids.
“We want to continue to upgrade the school,” said Brown. “We’re expanding the current playground. We’re also in the process of raising funds to build an outdoor learning lab, so it’ll be similar to an outdoor classroom where the kids can come out and do a science project and just have a different atmosphere to learn in.”
Daniel said this event would not be possible without the parents at Cahaba Elementary.
“We are really blessed at Cahaba to have a lot of parental involvement, said Daniel. “The classrooms have come together and reached out to local businesses and made these baskets happen. We have a great community atmosphere and it’s great having the parents coming out and getting involved to help raise money for the school.”
The silent auction will be held in the library of the school from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
