ATTALLA — One person was injured and two firefighters were overheated in a warehouse fire in Attalla on Monday, Sept. 30, 2019.
The Alabama Department of Environmental Management is on the scene of the fire off Highway 77 at Gadsden Warehousing.
Multiple fire agencies responded to the massive fire including 17 volunteer departments, city fire departments from all cities in Etowah County, as well as Etowah, St. Clair, Calhoun and Cherokee Counties.
Whorton Bend Fire Department said the 75,000 sq. ft. building was full of napkins and other paper products.
The Gadsden/Etowah County Emergency Management Agency said crews will remain on the scene to monitor the situation.
Several businesses and homes in the area were without power.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
