BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department announced an arrest one week after a homicide in the city’s west precinct.
Terrence Watkins, 37, of Birmingham, is in the Jefferson County Jail on a murder charge. He was taken into custody on Sept. 27 and released on Sept. 28, after posting a $100,000 bond.
Birmingham Police said Tiyesha Carson, 37, of Birmingham, died at UAB Hospital on Monday, Sept. 23, after Birmingham Fire and Rescue took her from the scene in the 1300 block of Avenue V.

Detectives said Carson suffered a gunshot wound and was found behind a house.
Watkins is considered innocent until proven guilty.
